Our Hope Association: A Path to Recovery for Women

For over 50 years, Our Hope Association has provided specialized care for women seeking healing from the disease of addiction. Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this organization offers a safe, dignified, and home-like environment designed to foster profound personal transformation. Their mission is rooted in the belief that all women deserve the opportunity to achieve lifelong recovery, addressing not just sobriety but the emotional and relational factors contributing to addiction. The comprehensive treatment model focuses on treating the whole woman, integrating professional care with compassion and community support.

Comprehensive Treatment Programs

Our Hope Association features a signature 90-day Long-Term Residential Treatment program, offering an immersive setting for women dealing with alcoholism and/or addiction. This extended duration allows clients adequate time to stabilize, engage deeply with therapy, and practice new coping mechanisms necessary for sustained sobriety. The program is grounded firmly in the 12-Step philosophy, while also being person-centered, emphasizing emotional healing and rebuilding a strong sense of self.

In addition to the residential track, Our Hope provides a Withdrawal Management Unit, offering sub-acute detoxification services staffed 24/7 by licensed nurses and overseen by a Medical Director. A significant percentage of clients who complete the Withdrawal Management program successfully transition directly into the Long-Term Residential Program, ensuring continuity of care.

Specialized Care and Environment

The association is committed to expert care, prioritizing pregnant women and mothers of minors. Their unique Women’s Specialty Services allow infants to accompany their mothers throughout the treatment process, removing a common barrier to care and supporting the critical bond between mother and child. Clients benefit from a high level of clinical support, including at least one hour of individual therapy per week with Master’s level Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors. Daily activities include group therapy and psycho-educational sessions, fostering a communal approach to recovery.

The facility itself is intentionally designed to be comforting and healing, contrasting sharply with the perception of a cold institution. The focus on a welcoming environment helps women feel safe as they undertake the difficult internal work required for lasting change.
